Clemson Football – Ready for another year

Another year… another chance for the thrill of victory, or hopefully not, the agony of defeat.  Either way, we will be there. Cheering on the Tigers and having fun with family and friends.  GO TIGERS!!!

Our summer travel adventure through five of Canada’s northeastern provinces and the northeast United States is over. We are back to the grind of the real life. Anna is back teaching school, I am back to checking off items on the ever-growing honey-do list.

It took a couple of weeks to get the motorcoach back into shape for the football season. Two months of travel over some rough northern roads gave us the opportunity to have several items repaired. In addition to repairs, the coach needed a good scrub down, waxing, water treatment, filter changes, etc… After off-loading our traveling gear and reloading the coach with tailgating supplies, we are ready for our fall dream – the 2010 football season.  The coach change over has left me sore, and worn out. I need a masseuse.

We have the good fortune of keeping our prime tailgating spot on the college campus – waterfront on the Seneca River and directly across the road from the west end zone at Death Valley. We will miss several of our RV tailgating friends who are not returning to their sites this year, but we hope to see some of them occasionally. We have two great Clemson families that have moved in next to us in the Clemson RV area on the campus.

The Tigers started their season with an afternoon game at home against a non-conference team, North Texas (I don’t know why). It was a win for the Tigers, but not a pretty one. Kyle Parker put his million-dollar plus MLB contract on hold to return as the Tiger’s starting quarterback… maybe great things will happen. Who knows?

Whatever happens, we hope this season is not a monsoon season like last year. We have never seen so much rain during football season. During one game, the stadium was evacuated twice due to lightning. Our regular crowd should be there with us this year when the extra-curricular activities of their growing boys and girls permit. Turner extended his stay at Clemson to attend grad school, so we will be able to continue sharing time with him on game weekends.

Come on down if you can. If we know you’re coming, we will be sure to have plenty of food. We would love to see you. Best to you and your team, unless of course they are playing against Clemson.

As always, we hope to see you down the road…
